Creating a Theme - Part 1 - NextStart

Introduction

The purpose of this tutorial is to create a new theme for WinStep - NextStart in part 1, and WorkShelf in part 2.

You have the option to create a theme using just colours, but I generally design bitmap images for my menus, and this is what I'll be using in this tutorial. I won't be going into the actual design of buttons from a graphics point of view - I'll leave that up to your own creativity, and I won't be catering for all of the many images available to NextStart and WorkShelf, but I will be covering all the essentials. Obviously, this is just my way of creating a theme - everyone will have their own techniques and preferences. WinStep gives you the choice of how much work you want to do.

For this tutorial I am assuming that you have already loaded and run NextStart version 2.7 (which is important, as many features are only available in this version) and created your own menus, or you are using the default ones, and you have hotspots defined to activate them.
